The Bristol Group looks forward to the Ordination of its clergy members in the week before Pentecost. Meanwhile, the Group Committee has agreed the following programme. Members live in Bristol and Somerset, a rather wide-spread area.

“Ordinariate Masses will initially be celebrated monthly, at which all members of the Group are expected to be present. We shall warmly welcome other members of the Catholic Church in the same manner as we ourselves have been welcomed. When there is no Sunday Ordinariate Mass we shall worship in our local Catholic churches. We intend also to have a monthly Ordinariate service of Evensong, sermon and Benediction according to our traditional usage.

For the time being the monthly Ordinariate Mass will be celebrated on the second Sunday of the month at St Joseph’s, Camp Road, Weston-super-Mare, BS23 2EN, at 12 noon, beginning on Pentecost Sunday, June 12th, and thereafter on July 10th, August 14th, etc.

The monthly Evensong will be held on the fourth Sunday of the month (unless otherwise notified) at 4.00 p.m., at venues to be announced. We shall warmly welcome friends from both Catholic and Anglican traditions.

After each Mass or Evensong we shall meet socially with suitable refreshments, and we shall celebrate together both spiritually and socially on other occasions.”

Has Evensong been approved by Rome?

I understand that the Holy Father was particularly pleased to participate in Evensong at Westminster Abbey, and that this is precisely part of what he wants preserved as “Anglican Patrimony”.
