Today the Holy Father begins his State Visit to our country. We pray that he will be warmly welcomed, and that many will take inspiration and encouragement from his presence and from his words. Thanks to an earlier post on this blog, I have discovered a new website devoted to Church music, especially plainsong. On it I found an update of a famous hymn by Cardinal Wiseman. I share the first verse with you:

Full in the panting heart of Rome,/ the pilgrim’s and the stranger’s home,/

the voices rise to God in prayer/as faithful Christians gather there:

God bless our Pope! God bless our Pope! God bless our Pope! God bless our Church!

The site belongs to Jeremy de Satge, whose father was John de Satge. Do visit it, and find the full words and music available free, at www.themusicmakers.org
